About Headway

Headway Family Mediation provides a service for separating, and separated families and couples, to work out their arrangements for the future. These arrangements may be regarding their children or their property and finances or, very often, all of these issues. Headway offers all clients the following:

• A particularly high quality, personal and professional service, ensuring that mediation works smoothly and efficiently.

• Mediators have a high success rate in helping clients reach mutually agreeable outcomes, helping them move forward with their lives in the best way possible.

• A number of convenient locations across Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire. See ‘Our Offices’ for further details.

• Free legally aided mediation to those eligible on certain benefits or a low income provided by a team of experienced, fully qualified mediators accredited by the Legal Services Commission.

• Charges that are kept as low as possible for clients  not eligible for legal aid so that mediation is affordable and cost effective for all. Charges are set on a sliding scale, dependant upon the individual’s income and we always let clients know exactly what these will be at their Information and Assessment Meeting. See ‘Our Fees’ or contact us for further details.

• Specially trained mediators who can offer direct consultation with children where appropriate.

• A range of additional supportive services for children and parents adapting to changes in their lives resulting from separation and divorce. See ‘Services for Children and Parents’ for further details or contact us.

• All our mediators are members of, and regulated by, the Family Mediators Association, a member organisation of the Family Mediation Council which sets and maintains high national professional standards for mediation and all have been screened by the Criminal Records Bureau to enhanced disclosure level.

• A service which adheres to the FMA’s codes of professional practice and complaint procedures.

• Approved by the Legal Services Commission which sets high, stringent standards and closely monitors the quality of service that Headway provides.

• Mediators who undertake regular professional development in various aspects of mediation and related services.
